Frequently Asked Questions
CBD, one of the 104 different cannabinoids found in cannabis plants, is the abbreviation for cannabidiol and interacts with the body via its endocannabinoid system. While THC, which is closely related to CBD, is psychoactive and causes a so-called ‘high’, CBD does not.
The body itself also produces cannabinoids using its so-called endocannabinoid system. This system is involved in many physical processes such as regulating appetite, energy, metabolism, and sleep. Furthermore, endocannabinoids also play a role in a variety of psychological processes.
The marijuana plant contains over 60 substances, the two most important ones being CBD (cannabidiol) and THC (tetrahydrocannabinol).
THC is a psychoactive substance that that makes users feel ‘high’ when consuming cannabis. CBD, however, does not have these effects, which is the reason why recreational users often choose THC oil rather than CBD oil.
THC is banned in most countries. Since CBD oil contains less than 0,05% of THC, however, it is legal in most European countries and may be freely traded and used.

Absolutely. CBD oil is 100% legal in most of the European countries. There remains some uncertainty as to its legality, however, as CBD oil is often confused with cannabis oil. While these products are similar, they differ to such an extent that the former has been legalised whereas the latter has not. Marijuana oil, also called THC oil, contains THC while CBD does not. THC is a psychoactive compound often used for recreational purposes due to its euphoric effects often called a “high”. As this compound is illegal in most countries, so is any product containing it.
What does CBD do?
Although the two are related, CBD – unlike THC – is a non-psychoactive compound that does not result in a “high”.
THC oil is usually either absorbed by the stomach or through the mucosal lining of the mouth and subsequently metabolised, resulting in a ‘high’ feeling due to its psychoactive properties and influence on the central nervous system.
We understand the confusion between CBD oil and cannabis oil all too well. Fortunately, the difference between these two very different products is easy to explain. It is good to be aware of the following differences:
Hemp oil = CBD oil = legal in almost all EU countries
Cannabis oil = THC oil = illegal in Europe
Only the former can be purchased on CBDsense.com. If you have any further questions, we would be more than happy to inform you of all the differences between CBD and THC.
The differences between CBD and THC
CBD and THC are two compounds that differ in a variety of ways. While THC may produce a “high”, CBD does not. For this reason, products containing THC are illegal in the Netherlands whereas products containing CBD are not. THC is a psychoactive compound, affecting a variety of higher brain functions by interacting with the central nervous system, that has been banned in the Netherlands and most other countries.
Most of these tests only screen for THC. As such, it is highly unlikely that I the minimum percentage of 0,05% found in CBD oil will be detected by a test. We are not aware of any known cases of positive test results.
The CBD oil sold in the Netherlands may not contain more than 0,05% THC by law, which is a negligible amount. Regular usage of CBD will not influence one’s ability to drive and may therefore safely be used. There are also oils on the market with a much higher THC content: users consuming these products are not permitted to participate in traffic.
CBD causes no psychological or physiological dependence.
This depends on the CBD percentage of the product you’ve chosen. We offer CBD products ranging from 2.5% to 18%: our 30% CBD paste is an outlier. Although the recommended amount is clearly shown on our products’ packaging, we recommend starting with a relatively low dose (1 drop). You may increase the dosage depending on your needs. We also recommend using CBD oil daily for a period of at least two weeks. In addition, it is important to listen carefully to your body in order to figure out whether to increase or decrease the recommended dosage.
2.5 is considered a light concentration.
5% is considered an average concentration.
10% is considered a heavy concentration.
We recommend sublingual application of the CBD oil and swallowing the tincture after approximately 30 seconds. However, some people are averse to its taste: as such, they may prefer to mix the tincture with either juice or food. It’s also possible to opt for our PURE (formerly “organic”) variety, as this product is known to have a more pleasant taste. Our CBD capsules are completely odourless and tasteless.
We recommend sublingual application of the CBD oil and letting it sit there for at least 30 seconds before washing it down with a glass of water. If you consider the taste of CBD oil unpleasant, it is also possible to either incorporate the tincture into a drink or even food. However, this is a less effective way of consuming CBD as it is not absorbed by the body as well.

It may very well be possible users may build up a tolerance to CBD after a while. This may easily be remedied, however, by not consuming any CBD for a week. Doing so will halt the tolerance build-up and allow you to consume CBD just as before.
When sublingually applied, CBD will be quickly and efficiently absorbed by the mucosal membranes in the mouth. It is vital, however, to let it sit under the tongue for 30 seconds prior to washing it down with a glass of water. CBD oil may also be incorporated into drinks and/or food, although this is a less efficient way of consumption as the stomach breaks down many of the active ingredients.
You cannot get high or stoned if you take CBD oil.
While nature is beautiful in and of itself, it is constantly in flux and ever-changing. As a result, the taste, colour, and structure of CBD oil will vary per batch due to the variety of growth conditions (sun, rain, climate, plant type, soil, etc.) This is also a clear indication, however, that no chemicals or other substances/chemical compounds are added to addle with the extract. As our plants produce different substances depending on the conditions it is grown in, each one will contain a slightly different proportion of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other compounds. The CBD content of all plants is strictly monitored during the entire cultivation and production process. After the extraction process, producers are left with a thick CBD paste whose consistency is determined by the natural waxes of the plant. This is why the visual and olfactory properties may differ between each batch.
Cannabidiol and other cannabinoids are known to be non-toxic. It is therefore not possible to overdose on CBD, and you can safely take as much or as little CBD as you want. While CBD can be taken as needed, we recommend to start with one drop twice a day. By starting off with a small dose, you can gradually increase it until the desired effects have been reached and you have determined your ideal dosage.
As long as the CBD oil is kept in a cool, dark place such as a refrigerator, cupboard, or cellar it has a minimum shelf life of one year. CBD oil is best consumed at room temperature.
This is entirely optional. All brands that are offered on CBDsense.com can be kept at room temperature, and their packaging indicates they are best kept in cool, dark places such as cellars or cupboards. All products are perfectly suitable for refrigeration, however, and some users actually prefer chilled CBD oil.

All our CBD products are made from carefully selected, high-quality, organically grown plants. After the initial growing period, the flowers of these plants are removed using special equipment. The CBD is then extracted either by means of CO2 (the Raw varieties) or by heating (the Pure versions). These processes all take places within hours of harvesting the plants to guarantee a fresh, pure, and reliable product. Our various CBD products are all produced using the thick CBD paste resulting from this laborious and time-consuming production process. Because it’s so labour-intensive, and plants only produce a relatively small amount of pure CBD, these products are not cheap.
There is no unequivocal answer to this question. Generally, most health insurance companies do not currently cover CBD products. That being said, more and more of our customers have stated they managed to accomplish this. Once it becomes clear which health insurance companies do consistently cover CBD products, we will immediately make this information known and state it on our website.
